Privacy
Privacy policy
Last updated 19 October 2026.
This policy covers two things: this website, and the Fettledesk software you download and run. In short, neither collects anything about you for the project.
This website
- No cookies, analytics or trackers. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
- Nothing from other sites. Fonts, images, video and scripts are all served from this site; your browser doesn't contact anyone else to show it.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may record technical details of requests, such as IP addresses, for security and operations. That's covered by the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
- Links. Links to GitHub and other sites are governed by those sites' own policies once you follow them.
The Fettledesk software
- Your data stays on your server. Fettledesk is self-hosted. Tickets, people, assets, attachments and everything else are stored in the database and storage of the server you run it on. The Fettledesk project never receives them.
- No telemetry. Fettledesk doesn't report usage, errors or anything else to the project, and doesn't check for updates in the background.
- Only connections you set up. Fettledesk connects outward only to services you configure: your mail server for sending and receiving email, Microsoft's sign-in service if you connect a Microsoft 365 mailbox, and, from 1.0, the single sign-on provider you choose. Inventory tools you connect send data to your Fettledesk, not to the project.
- Who's responsible. The organisation that runs a Fettledesk installation decides what's stored in it and who can see it, and is responsible for it under privacy law (such as the Australian Privacy Act or the GDPR). If you're asked about data in a Fettledesk installation, contact the organisation that runs it.
- Tools to help. Fettledesk keeps an audit log of sign-ins and administrative changes, deactivates people rather than deleting their history, and removes deleted items permanently after 30 days in the trash.
Donations
If you donate, the payment is handled by the platform you use (such as GitHub Sponsors), under that platform's privacy policy. The project sees only what the platform shares, such as your name if you choose to make it public.
GitHub
Issues, discussions and contributions on GitHub are public and are handled under GitHub's terms and privacy statement. Don't post personal or sensitive information in them.
Changes and questions
Changes to this policy will be dated here and recorded in the project's history on GitHub. Questions are welcome in GitHub issues.
